Safety Culture, Governance

Mr Gary McLaughlin has over 25 years extensive knowledge and experience in construction, infrastructure and utilities industries including sixteen years at senior management levels in both bid management and project execution. Gary is accomplished in business transformation, creating operational initiatives and driving strategic business goals to support sustainable growth. Gary has spent over a decade in senior executive roles for some of Australia’s largest Infrastructure organisations.

Gary displays a collaborative leadership style that has enabled him to build a strong reputation within the infrastructure sector, leading tenders and delivery on major heavy haul and urban electrified rail projects in both the UK and Australia.

As CEO, Gary leads the organisation to achieve the strategic objectives set out within the strategic plan. Translating strategic actions into annual business plans with clear Key Performance Indicators for all staff.

By providing a strong focus on our Safety Culture, Governance and accountability to stakeholders, Gary drives the organisation to achieve strong operational performance with a focus on enhancing the organisations reputation within the rail sector.

Gary is passionate about workforce safety and workforce engagement to ensure not only a highly motivated team but a productive team as well. As well as his hands on practical experience Gary holds a BSc in civil engineering.

Brendan Williams

Strategy, Business Development, Management

Brendan Williams has over 20 years of industry experience in major rail operations and construction projects across Australia, holding senior and executive roles within the SKILLED Group and Railtrain Holdings Group (RHG). Brendan has numerous qualifications, including a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD) and completing the General Management Program with the Melbourne Business School.

Brendan has significant experience in recruitment and overseeing operational activities at every level of the business. Brendan brings strong leadership, communication, financial and organisational skills to achieve the desired outcomes in the best interests of McDonald Surveys and our valued clients.

Brendan believes that strong leadership will drive great performance. He is a passionate safety leader committed to providing a safe and healthful workplace. Brendan regularly challenges how we do things with the ultimate goal of continually improving and evolving our safety culture.

Strategy and Innovation

Olan joined McDonald Surveys over six years ago, having just completed his Masters of Business Administration from the Australian Institute of Business. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering from Cork Institute of Technology.

Olan has over fifteen years’ experience in the surveying and construction industry and has extensive expertise in the rail industry sector. As Client Manager, his areas of responsibility are the strategic development and growth of McDonald Surveys, driving innovation and new technology to meet client needs.

Joe Healy

Joe Healy

Rail Engineering

Joe joined McDonald Surveys in Ireland in 2004 having completed his Bachelor of Science Geomatics from Dublin Institute of Technology. He worked his way up to senior surveyor following dedicated mentoring from management and peers. Moving to Australia in 2012 he has further developed his engineering surveying skillset into the rail industry. 

Joe is a member of Surveying and Spatial Sciences Institute and holds ESP-AP certification. Joe has a keen interest in adopting new technologies to the business and is a key provider of survey training within the team. Having moved into a survey manager role he is responsible for developing staff and ensuring project scopes are delivered to the highest standard.

Roslyn O’Connor

Dilapidation Operation and Project Management

Roslyn began her career at McDonald Surveys three years ago assisting Sally Ann in developing our dilapidation surveying services. Over the three years, she has assisted in the design, creation and implementation of our proprietary software, Inspective™. Roslyn now researches new business, designs client projects with Inspective™ and delivers a variety of projects throughout the Perth metro region. Her expertise in client management, project delivery and post event analysis has seen our dilapidation surveying service grow year on year

Roslyn is currently studying to achieve a Bachelor’s in Business Administration.

Tony Marsh

Tony Marsh

Survey Operation and Project Management

Tony joined McDonald Surveys in the role of Operations and Project Controls Manager, an area of expertise that he has developed over the past 15 years.

He brings an impressive, in-depth ability to plan our clients’ projects with a level of detail that delivers valuable data for both our clients and the business internally. His analytics pre and post project ensure that we have visibility and tight controls on schedules, costings, and resources during the project lifecycle.

Tony is a rugby union fan supporting both the Highlanders and All Blacks.

Joe Healy

Aaron Clarke

Health, Environment, Safety and Quality

Aaron has lived in Western Australia for the last 25 years of which the last 12 he has been a WHS Manager in the remote mining industry working mainly within the Oil & Gas field.

He has been involved in some of the largest Construction projects within WA and has successfully lead teams providing WHS advice, coaching and practical support to ensure compliance with WHS management systems. One of his primary roles is to implement and monitor workplace health and safety management policies.

His focus and passion are people and creating work environments that are safe and constantly embracing change. Human behaviours, mental health challenges and ever-changing work environments mean that Health & Safety must be proactive, constantly working to keep our employees safe.

Outside of work it is the golf course that keeps Aaron calm and relaxed for a challenging work environment.
